Embodying the Imaginal
12 week course
Radical Imagination, Buddhist practice, and co-creating liberatory culture
April 12 - June 29
Embodying Your Imaginal Self
Being in relationship with your radical imagination is your right. White supremacy, capitalism, the patriarchy, and all the oppressive systems that harm us disconnect us from our imagination. We are all imaginative, it's inherent to who we are.
We are living in the imagination of those who are exploiting us. If you could reimagine the world we live in today, what would it look like? What would it be like to live in the imagination of those who value community, connection with the earth, deep abundance, and safety for all? How would it feel to be truly resourced?
These questions are important, and when we are disconnected from our imagination, thinking about anything other than survival feels overwhelming. Understandable given the systems we live in! In this course, you will start to reconnect with your imagination through embodiment practices, creative practices, community building, and world-building. Find home again in your body and in your imagination while coming together in community. Inspiration can come from so many different sources. And we have the ability to resource each other in beautiful and surprising ways.
We will draw from the works of the Black radical feminist tradition, trauma-informed somatics, and Buddhism.
Course Dates & Schedule

Weekly Sessions: Sundays from 11 AM – 1 PM EST
Closing Weekend & Ceremony: June 28-29
COMING HOME TO YOUR BODY
April 12, 13, 27*
In this opening section, we will learn to create safety and to protect yourself energetically and emotionally through embodiment practice. Practices derive from indigenous earth practices, tantric Buddhist practices, Theravada Buddhist practices, along with Qi Gong and other ancient Indian movement practices. With a variety of tools at your disposal, you will start to tap into your embodied experience. As we practice together this will become more accessible, allowing you to fully experience your body from the present moment.
*note: we will not meet April 20th as I will be offline on retreat
CULTIVATING HOPE
May 4, 11, 18
Reflecting on the natural world, on the resilience of the earth, where can we set our gaze so we are nurturing hope. We will also be looking at the work of James Baldwin and Audre Lorde as compasses, along with the Buddha around how we root in hope while rooting into the present moment. We will practice earth-based practices that allow us to reconnect and reclaim our connection with the earth.
VISIONING PRACTICE
May 25, June 1, 8
In this section you will learn various ways to access a visioning practice. Through the work that we have done in the past two sections, there will be more accessibility to your imagination and your intuition. Through carefully crafted visioning practices, you will be able to access the future you would like to see.
BUILDING TOGETHER
June 15, 22, 28
Through the practices we've learned together, learn how to nurture your radical imagination in your every day life, and build new ways of being together with your community and the earth. We will create timelines, and new ways of being where we can bring our visions to life. Together, we will build anew and see the liberation that we vision together.
This course is unlike any other. It does not have required reading, or homework in the traditional sense. In this course, you will learn to foster community, build a greater relationship to yourself, and to the earth and ultimately a stronger relationship with your imagination. We are here to reclaim, restore, and re-imagine. When we imagine together, we get free together.

🌀 Frequently asked questions 🌀
-
Radical imagination sees the world not as it is, but as it could be: a healthy planet that is just and equitable for all. Radical imagination does not blindly accept the status quo, it recognizes that the world can and should change. And how the world could be is not simply better, it’s radically different. Radical imagination is the courage to envision a future that is completely unlike the world we have today. It is limitless. It doesn’t react to or get discouraged by current realities. It imagines — without constraint — that anything is possible and that, collectively, we are capable of achieving the impossible.
If the future you see gets a reaction such as “that will never work,” then you know you are engaging in radical imagination!

radical imagination is a great tool to have in your toolkit. especially if you often feel hopeless, or burnt out. you can take refuge in your imagination, and in your dreams. we must dream it to build it. so allow yourself to dream, to roam free in your imagination. in doing so you are not only freeing yourself, but the world. we get free together.
